We too have seen the effects of the pandemic in our industry, both negative and positive. Personally, I was surprised at how many Czech guests came to visit us during this season and especially how they behaved. I think there is still a general perception that Czechs, especially abroad, don't know how to behave, that they don't respect the rules and are problematic as guests. From my own experience I have to say that the opposite is true. Most of the guests who visited us during the summer were very pleasant, polite and it was obvious that they were grateful to spend their holidays in a nice environment. Perhaps these covid times are teaching us all to appreciate things we would have taken for granted before.
On the other hand, there are also a number of negative impacts that are reflected in the service sector. In particular, we are dealing with staffing complications associated with the operation of our beach bar. It's a very nice place with a beautiful view of the lake. The bar is all glass, and in good weather it is a pleasure to spend an evening there. However, even so, for the second year we cannot find a permanent and reliable operator. Someone who is as interested as we are in the development of our resort and able to deliver quality service. After much deliberation, we finally decided to run the Beach Bar ourselves. We came up with a concept - we decided to expand the menu and make the Beach Bar a modern bistro. We planned everything out and started to figure out the operation.
At that moment another difficulty arose. So far, there was no one who wanted to work at the Beach Bar, even if only part-time. First we approached friends in our area and put an advert on social media then we put an advert in paid advertising, but still nothing. We found out the hard way that things have really changed a lot in the hospitality industry. A lot of people who have worked in this industry in the past have switched and are doing something completely different. This is probably because of the uncertainty that is constantly prevailing because of the pandemic.
However, we are not giving up and are looking further! We believe that we will succeed and find the right person who will be as interested as we are in ensuring that our guests receive quality service and enjoy their holiday to the fullest.
